SPECIAL EDITION: WOMEN WHO WIN!

Jose PadillaI hope you're having a terrific beginning of spring, and that you took part in celebrating Women's History Month this past March.

Every day at CRLA we take on a variety of issues for rural women: wage theft, dangerous workplaces, deplorable living conditions, discrimination, and more. These are the issues our client communities face, regardless of gender. But for women, these problems are often heightened by the added injustice of gender-based discrimination, harassment, and abuse. 60% of CRLA's clients are women, who come to us seeking advocacy, resources, and safety.

CRLA has fought for women's rights from our earliest days. We recognize the strength, value, and power of women's work and lives - especially women in rural and migrant communities. Continuously, we fight to lift up and advocate for the voices and experiences of our compañeras throughout California. And we'll keep doing so until we win systemic change for them at work, at home, and in the eyes of the law.

CRLA takes on a wide variety of cases in the fight for women's rights - most notably we have had recent successes advocating on behalf of undocumented victims of sexual violence. We have helped these women obtain permanent residency status under the Violence Against Women Act.

Sexual harassment and violence in the work place is one of the most urgent issues facing women employed in low-wage jobs in rural industries like agriculture, dairy, warehousing, and trucking.
