In early March, Megan Beaman, CRLA Attorney, hosted a day-long tour of the Eastern Coachella Valley for a diverse delegation of officials from various federal, state and county offices, enforcement agencies, and civic organizations.
The purpose of the tour was to allow the visitors to witness firsthand the health and environmental hazards that have been plaguing the community for more than 30 years and to develop a taskforce that would work toward solving them. Participants, seeing and smelling the raw sewage, mass dumping of chemicals, nauseating odors and other hazards found on the walking tour, confronted the dangers residents face daily.
